About Me
Prior to stepping into the director's chair, I served as a staff 2nd Assistant Director in BBC Drama. Yet, fueled by an unwavering ambition to transition from the role of 2nd AD to director, I embarked on a journey of creative exploration. Armed with a handful of short films, I sought to showcase my talents to producers. However, despite my efforts, I found myself grappling with a lack of traction in the industry.
Refusing to be deterred, I took matters into my own hands and launched a daring guerrilla PR campaign. Over the span of several months, every transaction - from a simple cup of coffee to my weekly grocery shop - was conducted with low-denomination cash. I even took calculated risks, buying and selling US dollars at a loss, all with one strategic purpose: to stamp or inscribe my YouTube address onto every bank note. The result? A meteoric rise in YouTube views, catapulting from a mere thousand to a staggering hundred thousand. This meticulous manoeuvre not only garnered attention but also served as the key to unlocking doors with producers and kickstarted my directing career.
In 2013, I made my professional directorial debut on the acclaimed CBBC drama, Wolfblood, Series 2. Tasked with directing the pivotal 'Secret Episode' bridging the narrative gap between seasons, penned by the talented Sophie Petzal, I seized the opportunity to showcase my cinematic flair and directorial finesse. The success of this endeavor was undeniable - so much so that producer Foz Allan swiftly confirmed my next assignment, a standalone episode, even before the wrap of my initial two-day shoot.
From there, my trajectory allowed me to secure credits on revered shows such as the long-standing medical drama Holby City on BBC1 followed suit. Just two years into my directorial journey, I was entrusted with the task of rebooting the Wolfblood series, transforming its setting from rural tranquility to the gritty allure of urban landscapes. Infusing my signature cinematic vision, I propelled the show's visual narrative forward, as it global footprint expanded to over 70 territories, including the coveted Disney Channel in America.
My directorial prowess continued to shine on esteemed BBC1 productions like Casualty, Death in Paradise as well as four episodes on ITV’s Grantchester, series 6. Most recently, I've had the honor of helming Anansi Boys for Amazon and the iconic Vera for ITV.
